Here are some answers to questions that I hear most often. Please feel free to contact me with any further questions you may have.
What is the philosophy behind Birth Your Way Classes?
Birth Your Way is a curriculum that I developed with a fellow childbirth educator and birth doula. The 8 week course focuses on staying healthy during pregnancy, becoming an informed healthcare consumer, complications and interventions that can alter your birth plan and options for birth. The how tos and whys of natural childbirth are covered as well as choices in pain management for labor and birth. Newborn care and breastfeeding are also discussed in class. With two instructors present, students will receive extra care and attention during class.
Is Birth Your Way a combination of Bradley and Lamaze?
No. The Birth Your Way curriculum consists of some ideals that are universal to most childbirth class philosophies, including encouraging a low risk mother, avoiding unnecessary interventions and being a good consumer. Birth Your Way encourages each family to choose the birth path that is right for them depending on their own unique circumstances. Birth Your Way classes recognize and respect that some women will choose pain medications during labor and birth and helps families to reduce risks associated with their use while still benefiting from a reduction in pain.
